I had the great pleasure of visiting the beautiful and historic City of Winchester for the first time on Thursday evening. The occasion was the inauguration of the new President of the City of Winchester Circle of the Catenian Association and I was privileged to attend with my wife as President of Bicester Circle, the newest in the Catenian Association. For those who don’t know, the Catenian Association is a social organisation for Catholic men.
Yesterday my wife and I enjoyed a tour of Winchester Cathedral with a very professional and enthusiatic tour guide. Take a bow, Jeff Steer!. What amazing history resides in that great building, a living monument to when Winchester was the capital of England. The great and the good from William Wykeham to Jane Austen have found their resting place there. May Winchester Cathedral long continue to attract pilgrims from all over the world through its mighty and welcoming doors.
